Dear RSs,

The following information needs to be shared with all members/parents, coaches and DCs for the teams planning to participate in the Prince Phillip Cup games competition. Please be sure to forward this in a timely manner, so that each has time to thoroughly read and understand this statement.  Should you feel unable to contact a specific individual, please let us know ASAP so that we can provide you with alternative contact information.

The Prince Phillip Cup is an invitational competition facilitated by USPC, but actually belongs to the National Horse Show.  Being invited to the competition does require a qualified performance at the previous year’s USPC National Championships; however, it is not solely dependant upon this performance and is not a vested right.  The teams selected are representative of the USPC, as well as their regions and clubs.  As such, this honor is expected to be taken in the most serious manner with team members, coaches, chaperones and parents behavior reflective of the ideals of USPC.  In short, good horsemanship, good sportsmanship, good manners, good temper and enjoyment are expected.  Because the teams that comprise this field are regional in nature when selected, they remain under regional direction and authority lies with the Regional Supervisor.  All actions with regard to the teams, including but not limited to practices, team composition and the competition itself, are under this authority.  Participation is not mandatory, and teams may opt to not participate.

Sincerely,
Mike Amos
USPC Vice President of Regional Administration

Karol Wilson
USPC Director of Member Services and Regional Administration

Anna Clader

Hello Everyone,

Let me begin by saying that going to the Pony Club national meeting is an extraordinary opportunity for everyone and I would encourage everyone to attend as many of the national meetings as you can. If you believe in the greater good, this meeting helps you to see and learn just how great an organization USPC is!

What is "horse management"? It is the safety and care of our pony clubbers, all who participate, and our horses.

Pony Club has done numerous studies in the recent years trying to understand what needs to be done to keep the fundamentals pony club teaches at the forefront of all we do. Horse Management is that foundation upon which all activities are built. Unfortunately, horse management has gotten a bad name. Hence the focus for horse management will be "back to the barn" to learn how to properly care for our best friends and us. We are after all a teaching organization and what we teach is horse management the "pony club" way. We all joined USPC because we believed it was the best opportunity we could provide for our kids to learn horsemanship.

HMO training this year was a very simple, very clear message…BTTB, "back to the barn". The message is, pony club is about real horsemanship… and that begins and ends in the barn caring for our horses. We will be talking a lot about BTTB during the training seminar to be held during Quiz. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Thank you, we will see you at Quiz,

Kathy Barker
